Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 26 April 2026

These terms govern your use of Annhexation (“the Game”), made by James Randall. By playing the Game, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t play.

1. The Game

Annhexation is a hex-based 4X strategy game. The browser version is free to play. A paid version may be available on Steam, the iPad App Store, or other platforms; those platforms’ own terms also apply to purchases made through them.

2. Your Account

To save progress, you provide an email address. Login uses a one-time link sent to that email. There is no password. A cookie is set on your device for the sole purpose of keeping you logged in.

You are responsible for the security of your email account. Anyone with access to it can log in as you.

3. Acceptable Use

Don’t do things that mess with the Game or other players. In particular, don’t:

I may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.

4. Intellectual Property

The Game, including its code, art, sound, and design, is owned by James Randall. You’re granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to play. You don’t get any other rights.

You’re welcome to stream, record, and post videos of the Game. Have fun with it.

5. Content

Annhexation is an abstract strategy game. Combat is represented through board-game-style counters on a hex grid — there is no graphic violence, blood, or depictions of injury. Combat sound effects (such as swords and gunfire) are used to convey unit actions.

6. Availability and Changes

The Game is provided as-is. I’ll do my best to keep it running but I can’t guarantee uninterrupted availability. The Game may change, and features may be added, modified, or removed. The free browser version may be discontinued at any time.

This is an indie project. Early access builds will have bugs.

7. End of Life

I support the principles of the Stop Killing Games movement and have written about how I intend to handle Annhexation if I stop running the server infrastructure. See my blog post on AI and end of life for the detail.

This section describes my intentions only and does not form part of the contract between us. The Game and its server infrastructure are provided on the basis set out in section 6, and nothing here creates a legally enforceable obligation on me to take any specific end-of-life action.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the Game. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that can’t be limited under applicable law.

If you’ve paid for the Game and have a claim, my total liability is limited to the amount you paid.

9. Termination

You can stop playing at any time. You can delete your account yourself from within the Game once logged in. I may terminate or suspend accounts for breach of these terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer law gives you a right to bring proceedings elsewhere.

11. Changes to These Terms

I may update these terms occasionally. The “last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued play after changes means you accept the updated terms.
